Description |
At the top of a hill, labelled High Prices, there is a water pump, labelled with a dollar sign. Half way down the hill a woman whose head is drawn as a bucket, labelled Jill Milk, has fallen to the ground. Closer to the bottom of the hill, a man whose head is drawn as cracked jar, labelled Jack Butter, has also fallen. An empty bucket is rolling down the path beside them. On December 28, the Minneapolis Morning Tribune reported that that the Minneapolis Milk Company was reducing the price of milk from 8 cents a quart to 7 cents a quart, on January 1. The reduction in price was possible because the milk industry was receiving milk and cream shipments that had gone to the butter and cheese makers in the past. The caption reads 'Jack And Jill Went Up the Hill To Fetch A Pail Of Water. Jack Fell Down And Broke His Crown And Jill Came Tumbling After.' |
