[edit]Description(1915) September Thorn (Ennomos erosaria) (35827004301).jpg |
Latest from the traps. Wednesday night was quite warm and muggy and was a good catch for the garden trap with several excellent species. It was nice to record the other BLBE, Brown-line Bright-eye, only a second garden record and last seen in 2014. But the big surprise was recording 4 new species for the garden taking the moth species total of the garden in 5 years to 618 species, phenomenal. Fen Wainscot being the best, a typically common species in wetland habitat but with the warm weather these damper speciality moths disperse. Also the year first Square-spot Rustic was one of my earliest ever records and it was ridiculously tiny as well. The weather from Sunday is set to get warm again and lasting into the middle of next week so the trap will be out to take advantage of this.
