Description
中文（臺灣）：此圖攝影於昭和11年（1936）第二鳥居建立以前的玉里神社。玉里神社又可稱為玉里社，創建於昭和3年（1928）。當時神社建立的地點剛好位於清朝開山撫番時，吳光亮由中路開闢之八通關古道東端出口的附近。而日本人原先已在此玉里大通上立了一根寫著「八通關橫斷越道路起點」之木柱，後來將其改為水泥柱，並將上面的文字改為「八通關越道路起點」。而日治時期登山熱潮興起時，此處又多增加了一個「新高登山東口玉里」的柱子，一直到戰後才被破壞。
