中文（臺灣）：花蓮舊監獄位於今花蓮市國安郵局現址及城垣園現址處，前身為設立於昭和12年(1937)的「臺北刑務所花蓮港支所」，戰後才改為「臺灣第一監獄第二分監」，民國36年4月改稱「臺灣花蓮港監獄」，民國47年始改「臺灣花蓮監獄」，這間監獄收容重刑犯與花東地區受刑人長達四十餘年。民國71年1，花蓮監獄搬遷到干城村後，市區的舊監獄從此荒蕪，民國91年，花蓮市公所重新利用這塊閒置空間管理維護並成立城垣藝術創意空間，重新命名為「城垣園」。於102年11月21日重新跟市民見面，並呼應該區花蓮舊監獄的古蹟歷史，而命名為「自由廣場」。 |
