Description
中文（臺灣）：羅東中山公園接近中央位置，立有一座紀念碑，該碑一面題有「忠烈碑」，另面則銘刻以「中華民國三十五年十月　羅東鎮立　台灣省警備總司令部參謀長柯遠芬謹題」，另有一面則原可能有文字但被磨除。 　　從其規模大小與型態，一般推測「忠烈碑」乃原刻有「羅東神社」四字之社號標，原立於羅東神社入口左側處，戰後在1946年10月將「羅東神社」四字磨除，並改立為「忠烈碑」。 　　「忠烈碑」之題寫者，則是時任台灣省警備總司令部參謀長的柯遠芬，柯氏在二二八事件中扮演關鍵角色，被視為是二二八事件的劊子手。至於柯氏為何來到羅東題寫此碑，可能與1945年10月17日，柯遠芬率國民政府軍隊七十軍主力部隊部分駐紮在羅東有關。
