中文（繁體）：淡水英國領事館位於新北市淡水區，是台灣歷史上重要的殖民地建築之一，建於1870年代。該領事館由英國建築師設計，使用當地的紅磚和中國工匠施工，展現了典型的西式建築風格，包括拱圈迴廊、斜屋頂和高台階。隨著1860年淡水正式開港，貿易活動大增，英國商務蓬勃發展，領事館的角色變得愈加重要。
1891年，領事官邸在紅毛城東側新建，設計上考量了官員的思鄉情懷，並融入了殖民式建築元素。內部設有客廳、書房、餐廳和臥室，保留了英國建築的典雅風格。此外，領事館與紅毛城之間的草坪是台灣第一座網球場，反映了當時的社交活動與文化生活。
English: The British Consulate in Tamsui, located in the Tamsui District of New Taipei City, is one of Taiwan's historically significant colonial buildings, established in the 1870s. Designed by a British architect and constructed using local red bricks by Chinese craftsmen, the consulate showcases typical Western architectural styles, including arched corridors, sloped roofs, and high staircases. Following the official opening of Tamsui Port in 1860, trade activities surged, leading to the expansion of British business interests and an increasingly vital role for the consulate.
In 1891, the consular residence was newly constructed east of Fort San Domingo, designed with consideration for the officials' nostalgia and incorporating colonial architectural elements. The interior features a living room, study, dining room, and bedrooms, retaining the elegant style of British architecture. Additionally, the lawn between the consulate and Fort San Domingo is the first tennis court in Taiwan, reflecting the social activities and cultural life of the time. |
