中文：這是蔣宋美齡（1897-2003）在美國國會發表演說影像，拍攝時間為1943（民國32）年2月18日。 1942（民國31）年11月27日，蔣夫人搭乘波音三○七飛機，同行的有孔令偉與兩位美國護士，闊別二十五年回到她的知識啟蒙地。專機抵達紐約長島密契爾（Mitchel Field）軍用機場後，羅斯福（Franklin Delano Roosevelt，1882-1945）總統派代表霍普金斯（Harry L.Hopkins，1890-1946）到機場迎接，並護送她住進哥倫比亞大學長老會醫學中心（Columbia University Medical Center）。住了約十一個星期，在醫療團隊治療下身體逐漸恢復健康。1943（民國32）年2月初出院，羅斯福夫人（Anna Eleanor Roosevelt，1884-1962）熱情邀請她出院後前往紐約上州海德公園羅斯福的私人官邸住了兩個星期。2月18日，蔣夫人與羅斯福夫人共同乘坐禮車到達國會山莊，由參議院多數黨領袖巴克萊（Alben .Barkley）等人陪同進入參議院，原本僅計畫向眾議院發表演說，但接獲副總統兼參議院議長華萊士（Henry Agard Wallace，1888-1965）邀請，並在參議院發表演說。在1942年底至1943年訪美長達四十六天，蔣宋美齡主要為爭取美國對中國對日抗戰支持及援助，促使美國重新思考重歐輕亞之政策，也為日後爭取美國對華援助奠下基礎。 |
