中文（臺灣）：周恆功，民國37年出生，江蘇揚州人，其父親原先在陸軍服務，跟隨著陸軍出身，後來接掌海軍總司令的桂永清先生，於民國38年帶著我母親及兩個孩子，搭乘海軍中字號軍艦來到臺灣。船在靠近高雄港碼頭的時候失火，許多民眾掉到海裡溺斃，我們一家四口，幸運的躲過此劫。
父親剛到臺灣時是尉級軍官，沒有分配到眷舍，於是在蓮池潭附近租房子。大概過了二年左右，先分配到自治新村，後來又搬到自立新村29號。因為陸續又生了三位弟妹，29號房子太小，再搬到自立232號。住到我高中時，果貿社區蓋好，雖然也不大，但考量到它是新建房舍，所以爸爸決定搬過去，一直住到眷村改建才搬離。 周恆功訪談中，說明早期撤退來臺的軍人眷屬的生活情形，頗值得參考。 |
