English: The architect Charles Correa adopted his iconic approach of planning low-rise housing to design Tara Group Housing for the middle classes. The features of this cluster of building reflect local characteristics, a style that was in vogue for architecture at the time in India. Units formed by concrete strips and exposed brick walls are stacked at random, placed side by side along the green courtyard in the center. Every house has a patio shaded by an awning while the central area with its concave landscape design is shaded by trees. This helps lower the temperature and raise the humidity to withstand the hot and dry climate. |
