喇嘛塔の傳說

泉水屯簡易駅の近く、土人の称する喇嘛塔なるものがある。これに就いて左の如き伝説が語られてゐる。｜昔泉水屯の村に阿房々々と村人から常に馬鹿にされ、物笑ひの種になつてゐた子供があつた。併し其の子供は世の常の阿房と違つてゐるところがあつた。彼は長じて二十歳ばかりになつたが、或る日神の天啓を受け、道で一部の経典を拾つた。其の経典には全く不思議な見なれない文字で満されてあつたが、阿房とまで馬鹿にされた彼だけが自由に読み得て、其後彼には不思議な霊題を有するようになり、彼の祈りに会ふものは、非常な難病でも忽ちなほつた。今まで軽蔑した村の人々もやがて彼を神仏として尊敬した。彼は一生独身で村の人々の為め祈り、高齢で経典を読みつゝ眠るやうに息を引き取つた。村の人々は彼の為めに塔を造つて祀つた」。此の話は今から約二百年ばかり前の事で、彼の拾つたと云ふ経典も。彼の死後火事にあつて焼けてしまつてなくなつたと云ふ。蓋し此の不思議な見なれない文字で書いたと云ふ経典は西蔵文字か何かで書いたのであらう。普通此の地方で喇嘛塔と称する塔は僧侶を葬つた処に立てた塔であるから、此の塔もそれではあるまいか。｜（印画の複製を禁ず）
