狼煙墩 （直隷省南口）

昔、支那の王樣が、お氣に入りの妃の笑顏がみたいばかりに、事もないのに栙（へんは火）臺に火を擧げさせた、栙（へんは火）火が擧がるのは蠻族が攻め込だとか、謀叛をした者があるとか、所謂有事の際にきまつてゐるのだ、で諸侯は、すはとばかり兵を率ゐて都に集つて來た、と、何事ぞ、王樣は至極涼しい顏をして「お前達は何しに來たのか」との御意。面喰つた諸侯の顏の可笑さに妃は始めて破顏、王樣も始めて御滿悅ー浪漫的な連想を呼び起す栙（へんは火）臺は、南口から長城へかけて到所に殘つてゐる、圖は北京の方を望んで立つ南口の栙（へんは火）臺、麓は小さな廟、その前には淸冽な谷水がはしつてゐる。
