Description

עברית: בית סורסוק הוא מבנה היסטורי גדול ומפואר בן ארבע קומות ברחוב רזיאל ביפו, הקרוי על שם משפחת סורסוק מביירות, מהעשירות שבמשפחות סוריה שבבעלותה היו שטחי קרקע גדולים בגליל, בעמקי הצפון ובמפרץ חיפה ועסקיה חבקו את רוב המזרח התיכון. בשנת 1921 רכשה מבנים אחדים ברחוב בוסטרוס (רחוב רזיאל של היום), שיפצה אותם ובנתה מבנים נוספים. גולת הכותרת של בניית המשפחה ברחוב היא "בית סורסוק" שנחנך בשנת 1925. הבית נחנך על ידי הנציב העליון הבריטי, לורד הרברט פלומר. בבניין שכנו משרדים יוקרתיים של יפו, חברות ספנות, קונסולים זרים וגדולי הסוחרים, ובנוסף משרדיהן של חברות יהודיות ובהן לשכת המסחר של תל אביב וחברתו של מאיר דיזנגוף שעברה אליו מ"בניין הוועד הארץ ישראלי" ששכן באותה העת ברחוב רזיאל 17 ושבו פעלה התנועה הציונית בראשית ימיה.
