Українська: Щириця кривава (Amaranthus cruentus L.) з роду Щириця (Amaranthus L. 1753) родини Щирицеві (Amaranthaceae Juss. 1789) це висока однорічна трав’яниста рослина, увінчана кистями темно-рожевих квіток. Рослина може вирости до 2 м у висоту і цвіте влітку до самої осені. Вважається, що він походить від щириці гібрідної (Amaranthus hybridus L., 1753), з яким має багато спільних морфологічних ознак. Рослина зазвичай зеленого кольору, але колись вирощували фіолетовий варіант для використання в ритуалах інків. Щириця кривава культивується як декоративна рослина, цінується за схожі на пір’я квітучі пір’я. Зазвичай вирощується з насіння як напівстійкий однорічник, який висівають під скло ранньою весною і висаджують влітку. Саме декоративний сорт зображений на фото.
English: Blood amaranth (Amaranthus cruentus L.) from the genus Amaranthus L. 1753 family Amaranthaceae Juss. 1789 is a tall annual herb topped with clusters of dark pink flowers. The plant can grow up to 6 ft in height, and blooms in summer to fall. It is believed to have originated from Amaranthus hybridus, with which it shares many morphological features. The plant is usually green in color, but a purple variant was once grown for use in Inca rituals. Blood amaranth is cultivated as an ornamental plant, valued for its feather-like flowering plumes. It is usually grown from seed as a half-hardy annual, that is sown under glass in early Spring and planted out in summer. It is the decorative cultivar shown in the photo.
