English: Traditional climbing of the Isar fortress in štip, in honor of the holiday of Sv. Četirieset Mačenici or popularly known as Četrse. Participants gather in the streets and squares of Shtip, and then climb the steep Isar. On the way, they stop at the church to pay their respects to the Holy Forty Martyrs. During the climb, according to tradition, participants should greet at least 40 people. The young people collect 40 pebbles, throw 39 of them into Bregalnica, and leave one under the pillow because, according to belief, they will dream of their life partner. Throughout the day, bands play in this part of the city and then play on the ship until night. |
