В приборе Бекмана для наблюдения понижения точки замерзания раствора его помещают в пробирку А, а саму пробирку, защищенную от быстрого нагрева более широкой пробиркой В, — в охладительную смесь (снег или снег с солью), которая находится в снабжённом мешалкой теплоизолированном сосуде С. Переохлаждение раствора устраняют, вызывая кристаллизацию энергичным перемешиванием мешалкой, пропущенной в пробирку А через закрывающую её пробку. Температуру измеряют метастатическим (дифференциальным) термометром Бекмана D.
