Description
Français : Construite entre 1899 et 1904, l'église Saint-Martin de Cesson-Sévigné prend place sur un nouvel espace au centre du bourg et remplace l'ancienne église, attestée dès le XIIe siècle, devenue trop petite et qui se situait à l'entrée des Vieux Ponts.

Édifiée par le célèbre architecte diocésain Arthur Regnault, elle présente un style néogothique avec sa grande nef, sa rosace en façade, ses nombreuses petites chapelles latérales et sa grande flèche élancée en pierre blanche.

L'église est construite essentiellement en schiste rouge de Pont-Réan.

Son clocher de 50 mètres de haut est disposé sur le flanc ouest et fait le lien avec la sacristie.

A noter : son axe d'orientation nord-sud est contraire aux habitudes qui veut que les églises soient orientées est-ouest.
