| Description |
English: 'Reckitt's' Chimney and Gas Holder in Stoneferry The chimney (which is just out of the designated square) was built in the early 70s for the then Reckitt's Colours Division at Morley Street. It was built using the continuous concrete pouring method and had (at that time) the highest height (450'/137m) to width ratio of any chimney in the world!! The gas holder (which is in the designated square) is at the site of the former Hull Gas Works which was demolished after the introduction of North Sea Gas into the British network. |
