Dear Jameslwoodward, it seems to be that in fact you know nothing and all your speech is the pure speculation. If the photographer was born in 1910 he could still alive! -- Steinbeisser (talk) 07:25, 4 November 2012 (UTC)
- I think you miss the point. If the person were born in 1910, he was probably not taking the picture the same year he was born.
- This is, indeed, all speculation. Our rules require that in the absence of proof, we must assume the worst. The photographer of a 1910 image could easily live beyond 1942. We generally use 1880 as the latest date for which we are willing to assume that the photographer died before 1942 and even that is not completely reliable. If you assume a 10 year old photographer who lived to be 110 years old, then almost any photograph could have been taken by a photographer who lived past 1942.
