  •  Comment Interesting scope, I have thought already about submitting mechanical computers. There are several kinds of analog mechanical computers, could this one be identified? --Eusebius (talk) 18:40, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    •  Comment This one is a mechanical analog computer with cam-based mechanism and wire balancer. This machine was used in steam locomotive design process, for 4th-order surfaces evolvement approximation. The calculation method is Fourier row expansion with 8 harmonic coefficients. The coefficients can be set up by digitally divided cams and indication limbs, as it is shown on photo.
  •  Oppose As I said, I'm interested in the scope, but I think the picture attached to it should illustrate the whole machine and/or be self-explanatory enough to allow people to understand the principles of it (although it is quite complex here). Here we see only a small part of it, and the picture doesn't really explain anything about how the machine works. Additionally, it's not geotagged (where is it displayed? I've seen some at the Science Museum in London, but maybe not this one). --Eusebius (talk) 12:42, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
