- Support This strange tower in the island of Aegina, Greece. According to the tradition, the Markelos Tower of Aegina was built around 1802, and was used in 1826 as a base for the interim new government of Free Greece for four years. Spyros Markelos built it. He was a member of the Filiki Eteria active during the war of Independence in 1821, and later a member of the Parliament in Aegina, the first capital of modern Greece. However, it was probably built in the late 17th c., and maybe have been part of the fortifications of the harbour. in 1821 it was used to house some famous militaries and politicians, such as Ioannis Kolettis, Nikolaos Mexis, or the french Philhellene Charles Nicolas Fabvier, and others. It was the seat of the government until the arrival of governor Ioannis Kapodistrias in 1828. It belongs now to the municipality of Aegina, and it used as offices, and gallery for exhibitions.-- Jebulon (talk) 18:01, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
- Support - Thanks for explaining the history. I feel pretty sure I would have supported running this photo just on the basis that it's a pretty building in a nice pink color that's the centerpiece of an excellent composition, but the historical significance of the building is all the more reason for a feature. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:56, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose Good image, but nothing special, no reason for FP. --Karelj (talk) 21:28, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

- Oppose Per Karelj. QI for sure but there's too much going on for the simplicity that might make this an FP. Daniel Case (talk) 02:21, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

- Oppose Relatively tight crop, light is relatively even, so I have to agree with Karelj. — Julian H.✈ 11:01, 2 March 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose Per other opposers. --Uoaei1 (talk) 13:23, 2 March 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose The very even illumination removes any possibility to percieve the depth and structure of the tower. --Rftblr (talk) 17:03, 4 March 2016 (UTC)
