Some Images in here have got incompatible licenses. abf /talk to me/ 14:09, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WAIT! Don't just delete it, tell what are the incompatible licenses and it will be changed! The Ogre 14:22, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
COM:L will help you. And there is also the possibility to read the licenial texts. Regards, abf /talk to me/ 14:24, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
From what I can figure out this is all because Creative Commons licenses are not compatible with GFDL - if I remove Zidane's picture is it okay? Please help... I'm strongly lost in all of this! And the image in question was the result of a long and strenuous vote in the english wikipedia... The Ogre 14:45, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
"there is also the possibility to read the licenial texts"
That's a smart one. Thanks for your help pal ! You requested the deletion of this image, the least you can do is to mention which pics you believe have an incompatible license - Wikig | talk to me | 15:03, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The image is a mosaic of 27 other images. From the talk page discussion at Wikipedia\French people, it is clear that the editors there are willing and able to correct/remove/replace any images with improper licensing. However, it's harder to do if we're not told which image(s) is/are at fault. I'm only hoping that this isn't the case of someone tagging the mosaic without checking, thinking that, out of 27 pictures, ones of them possibly has an improper license.--Ramdrake 15:46, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I concur with the above statements, if you have a problem with the license abf please point out exactly what is wrong. Med 16:23, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Most of the images are PD, and as such, unproblematic. Two images (Piaf, Bardot) are GFDL-licensed, requiring the collage to be GFDL-licensed as well. One image (Zidane) is CC-BY-licensed. It is not does not require share-alike, so that GFDL-licensing is allowed, provided proper attribution is given. Therefore, I think that the mosaic can be kept as is. You still need to add attribution for all images requiring that, as that is missing currently. --rimshottalk 16:57, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Rimshot! And thanks for the info provided. Two questions if I may:
  1. So, can I deduced from your words that only Zidane's pic needs atribution?
  2. How is atribution done? Must the name of the author be placed in the image itself, or it just needs to be stated in the info at the image's page?
Thank you once again! The Ogre 20:02, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Added authorship at the image's page for the 3 source images that are not PD. The Ogre 20:18, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
1. Mitterand requires attribution as well. This is stated directly on the image page. 2. Attribution can be done in the image description, it's well done now for the three images. With the Mitterand image as well, I think that would be everything then. --rimshottalk 22:00, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, because this has been sorted out I'm going to remove the deletion notice now. Alun

Uses Mitterrand.gif image already listed for deletion. Rosss 00:21, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Problem solved, that image is no loger used, instead a PD image was used. I've removed the deletion tag. Thanks! The Ogre 06:16, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
