IT IS NOT NOR HAS IT EVER BEEN FLOWN NOR USED BY ISLAND AUTHORITIES AS THE FLAG OF JOHNSTON ATOLL. THE ONLY FLAG TO FLY AT JOHNSTON ATOLL WAS THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND THE FLAG OF THE KINGDOM OF HAWAII WHO CLAIMED THE ISLAND IN THE 1850'S ON BEHALF OF KING KAMEHAMEHA. by John Bartlett, Former DoD Liaison and DOE Site Representative at Johnston Atoll. - Hm, this is interesting. The source page is no longer there. However, a page at crwflags.com says it is an unofficial flag. Their page on Navassa Island says the same thing, and that these unofficial flags for Johnston, Navassa, and Palmrya were created to represent the islands at a Pearl Harbor ceremony on December 7, 2001. w: Flag of Navassa Island says the same thing. Image:Flag of Navassa Island (local).svg and Image:Flag of Palmyra Atoll (local).svg are therefore in the same category, but they are more accurately labeled unofficial flags. Keep, since the flag is within scope, but change the description to indicate its unofficial status and perhaps upload under a better name to indicate that as well. Kept. This is not how wikis work. You don't ask for deletion because find something wrong. You click that little edit tab and fix it. Unofficial flags are allowed here and we are free to interpretation. Thank you for pointing out our mistake and feel free to update the description and/or rename it. →Rocket°°° 07:15, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
