This image was originally uploaded with PD-RUSSIA, because the law used to allow for pre-1954 works. However, Russian law has changed and the dates are now pre-1951. This would have required the image to be deleted, so instead of being deleted, an editor has changed the licencing to PD:UKR instead. This is an absolute copyvio. There is zero evidence that the image was first published in the Ukrainian SSR, so PD-UKR does not apply. There are other images tagged in such a way which are also going to be nominated for blatant copyvio. russavia (talk) 12:28, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- The Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union until 1991 and had no seperate copyright until that time. Instead one can establish that ukrainian intellectual property has been claimed without further notice as soviet intellectual property. This problem has been simply resolved by the ukrainian government by claiming all soviet intellectual property as ukrainian intellectual property. The ukrainian government has the right to do this, simply because the Ukraine is like the Russian Federation a successor state of the Soviet Union. As long as no different agreement on copyrights between both states exists, it is compliant to use the ukrainian copyright tag. Keep --Kl833x9 (talk) 17:03, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- Delete May be PD in the Ukraine, but that's pretty irrelevant here unless it can be shown that the image was first published there. Lupo 13:22, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
