A claim in ticket:2015021110015342 that portraits are commissioned by the federal court in Puerto Rico but copyright by David Wells Roth and NOT in the public domain. Ankry (talk) 03:20, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
@Ankry: *No contest After consideration, I will not contest these deletions, though it should ****ing figure it would be too good to be true. And though not related to the deletions, it pisses me the **** off that Federal Courts are paying what is likely big money to commission portraits and NOT requiring copyright to be vested in the courts. But that is something I will be discussing with my congressman. Again, I will NOT contest these deletions. In the end, it is Wikipedia's loss, not mine. Safiel (talk) 04:16, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
@Ankry and Safiel - I am the artist of the paintings in question. Please understand, that the paintings were a privately funded commission FOR the court by the Federal Bar Association by private donations to the Federal Bar Association, therefore NOT paid for by the court, taxes or anything else. Also, isn't it at all possible to simply place a copyright symbol and indicate that the paintings are up as a "fair use" category rather than removing these images from their Wikipedia pages? I have seen this occur with other artists such as Andy Warhol, etc. I prefer not to see them removed. Should you wish to reach me to discuss this further, please go to the contact page on my webpage: www.davidwellsroth.com. Thank you. David Wells Roth
- Three images that already have PD replacement deleted. @Safiel: would you transfer to enwiki those which qualify under enwiki Fair Use requirements? I am not familiar with enwiki Fair Use rules. Ankry (talk) 09:07, 16 February 2015 (UTC)
- Put them in Category:Pending fair use deletes and a bot will do the move. They will need reducing when they get to en-wiki to be <100,000 pixels. Ronhjones (Talk) 22:42, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
- P.S. they have to be deceased subjects to be allowed for fair-use. I've not checked to see if they are all deceased. Ronhjones (Talk) 22:48, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
- Done. People with no death date provided omitted. Ankry (talk) 06:51, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
