Alberta is subject to Crown copyright,[1][2] which states that materials created by the government enters public domain only 50 years after first publication (w:Crown copyright). This photo has no information of first publication, only creation. Thus, it is nominated here to seek for evidence of publication before 1958, or to face deletion.  Keep Let us just assume that this was published when he was premier of Alberta in the 1930's. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 00:00, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That is quite a weak argument for "keep", is it not? The onus is to provide indisputable evidence that the material is in public domain, not to assume it is. Jappalang (talk) 01:08, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Keep William Aberhart died in office in 1943. The photo was taken 8 years before that date and almost certainly published in a print medium because he was a Canadian premier. The Government of Alberta web source states it was taken circa 1935. A PD-Canada license is more than adequate here. There is an official picture of the premier of Alberta...and you are asking us to believe it would not be printed at least once in a book, brochure or newspaper in Alberta where he served in office (between 1935-43)--or anywhere in Canada--before 1959? This is not a credible proposition at all. This photo of Aberhart is widely printed in local Canadian academic books and would certainly have been printed at least once before 1959. When I think of Premier Aberhart, as a Canadian, I see this picture of him. I find this DR to be quite unreasonable. Anyone who knows anything about Canadian politics knows that the photo is a classic portrait of Aberhart. It was taken in the first year of his administration and almost certainly published long before 1959 in books/papers which I cannot physically access due to my job. --Leoboudv (talk) 07:55, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
