Clearly comic art - Enwiki duplicate tagged as non-free Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:40, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Comment The tag on the English Wikipedia is clearly there because the uploader does not know the copyright status. The words used about the copyright are "most likely". That's reasonable, as we can't simply assume that the copyright was not renewed, but it isn't evidence of non-renewal either. This source [1] gives the date as 1952 and mentions a reprint in 1971. If anyone can check the renewal status, it would be worth doing. --Simonxag (talk) 11:27, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Note: the words "most likely" are not words of choice but are simply part of the Non-free comic template text on the English language Wikipedia. Athaenara (talk) 02:56, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Delete As it is not used, precaution principle is simpler. --GaAs11671 09:25, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Comment Yes deleting is always easier. The reason it is not used is perhaps that it has been nominated for deletion. It is not good wiki-style to use possible copyvios in articles so that could explain why it is not used (yet). If someone can/will check copyright status I think it would be nice. --MGA73 (talk) 08:19, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Delete. This image of a 1951-1952 comic cover is identical in every way to the image uploaded properly to the English language Wikipedia by ReverendLogos (log), yet the Commons uploader claimed possession and conferred a PD license on it. Wrong, just plain wrong. Athaenara (talk) 02:56, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

KeepIt doesn't matter that much what is the license on Wiki-en. Many users upload their files under fair-use just because they don't know the copyright status or they are lazy to learn about it. Here's an example. This image is {{PD-text}} and {{PD-shape}}, even with similar images being free that one keeps under fair-use. Now talking about the cover; White Princess of the Jungle was not renewed. If you don't believe search for Donald Duck. All works not listed on the site was not renewed. This cover and the characters are PDMizunoryu (talk) 04:51, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
