There is no commercial freedom of panorama in Turkmenistan. Per w:en:Anau, Turkmenistan, the museum was built in 2005. If the architect is unknown, this work remains copyrighted for 50 years from completion, as per COM:Turkmenistan. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 10:16, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I took this photo

I took this photo while serving as U.S. ambassador to Turkmenistan. It is an incidental use and was not taken for commercial purposes (I was a U.S. government employee at the time). This photo should not be deleted. Amustard (talk) 04:14, 30 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Amustard: please reply at deletion request page itself instead of the request page's talk page (all discussions should take place here directly; there should be a proposal to deactivate talk page creations of deletion request pages).
With regards to your reply, your photo is licensed so that anyone can reuse it commercially. Even if you licensed it as such, the copyrighted work of architecture is very prominent in the photo. Therefore, you cannot license your photo because you lack licensing permission from the building's designer (architect), considering the country having no commercial freedom of panorama. You cannot claim incidental inclusion because the copyrighted architectural work is the focus of your photo. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 04:23, 30 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete with regrets. Turkmenistan has been lobbied to have its copyright legislation conform to EU standards but to little avail. This is one reason that prevents me from uploading photographs of Turkmen architecture. As of now, Turkmenistan has NO Freedom of Panorama. TrangaBellam (talk) 15:14, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
