Hate to do this, but I don't think even the rather generous FOP in the UK covers a text of this length and originality. Jmabel ! talk 13:49, 29 August 2024 (UTC)

- @Pigsonthewing: I believe the UK does not allow FOP for copyrightable text, and clearly this is way over the threshold of being a copyrightable text (which is usually some combination of length and originality, and is determined in specific cases more by case law than statute law). - Jmabel ! talk 18:29, 29 August 2024 (UTC)

- I'm saying that thresholds of what is copyrightable are almost never stated in statute law, they are matters of case law. But this isn't even close to being under the (very low) UK threshold. The poem by Karen Gershon is certainly copyrightable. @Pigsonthewing: do you doubt that, and think this poem is PD-ineligible? - Jmabel ! talk 21:38, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
- OK, in what case law is the maximum length of an inscription specified? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:53, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Pigsonthewing: I have no idea. Are you seriously saying that you think it is possible that a poem of this length is ineligible for copyright in the UK? - Jmabel ! talk 18:32, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
- No. Am I saying that FoP only applies to non-copyrightable content? No. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 20:42, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
- If it is not copyrightable, then FOP is irrelevant. Again: while there is broad FOP in the UK, it does not appear to cover copyrightable text. Therefore this is a copyvio. If you want to keep arguing around the edges of that, go ahead, but I'm done here, and some other admin will ultimately have to close this in any case. - Jmabel ! talk 21:51, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
