Derivative work. G I Chandor (talk) 07:45, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
- Keep until the copyright status of Madame Tussauds figures is clarified. Per COM:DW, "A derivative work is one which is not only based on a previous work, but which also contains sufficient new, creative content to entitle it to its own copyright". In this case it does not have "sufficient new, creative content", but merely portrays a historical person. There's an entire Category:Wax figures in museums. - Delete FOP laws of USA (this is in Las Vegas per categories) exclude artworks and sculptures. The Category:Wax figures in museums should not have any images from countries where FOP is not allowed. These are pruned from time to time and if there are any left then should be nominated for deletion. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 06:29, 18 January 2017 (UTC)
- Per FOP for USA, there should be an originality requirement: "a work, including a derivative work, must display originality to be protectable under copyright law". Derivative_work#Originality_requirement further says: "It cannot be a rote, uncreative variation on the earlier, underlying work. The latter work must contain sufficient new expression, over and above that embodied in the earlier work for the latter work to satisfy copyright law’s requirement of originality". Thus I think it's a non-copyrightable FOP exempt. Brandmeister (talk) 12:47, 19 January 2017 (UTC)
