As said in Commons:Screenshots Microsofts policy [1] is not compatible with Wikimedia guidelines. Matt (talk) 11:09, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

- I am confused of the last two DRs (see my talk page). Any special reason for this coincidence? ;-)
On topic: Matt, please read the section you have linked to (Commons:Screenshots#Microsoft_products) in full: ".. may or may not be copyrightable, as they are purely geometric. ..." and see Threshold of originality. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 12:52, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
Kept,
This is pure geometry + a few numbers, all in all not eligible for copyright. (Even the layout/style does not necessarily come from Microsoft.) RE rillke questions? 16:18, 30 May 2011 (UTC)Microsoft's guidelines do not allow derivative works,[3] so screenshots of Microsoft products would go against Commons policy. The Windows operating system itself is a Microsoft product, and the precise appearance of standard operating system widgets in some themes may or may not be copyrightable, as they are purely geometric.
