I understand that China was "Republic of China" before it became "People's Republic of China" in 1949. However, the ROC belongs to Taiwan, and the PROC belongs to China. The poster was first published in mainland China, not Taiwan. U.S. Copyrights were restored by the URAA before the poster's copyright in China expired a few years later. • Keep: The PRC didn't even exist when this image was created under the ROC jurisdiction. Later the ROC retreated to Taiwan, but has never relinquished its claim to the mainland (nominator's claim that "the ROC belongs to Taiwan" is not legally sound). The ROC signed the URAA agreement with US in 2002, meaning copyrights for all works created before 1952 under ROC jurisdiction were not restored in the US. Besides, in any case, whether ROC or PRC, the image is public domain in either jurisdiction. -Zanhe (talk) 21:56, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
