The proportions are nowhere near the real Woolmark®, so at least the explanation should be changed to omit references to Woolmark, or the file should be deleted to avoid confusion. Kotivalo (talk) 07:18, 6 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I believe there is no confusion. This the source of the "real Woolmark". How about you upload an image of the "real Woolmark" making the appropriate arrangements because as you have pointed out it is a registered trademark. (just checked on my personal woolly jumper currently under utilisation and the mark on there looks to me just like the mark under discussion. Is this a joke?) I'm afraid I'm not legally allowed to upload a copyrighted trademark to Commons, nor is anyone else. What do you mean by "This the source of the 'real Woolmark' " and "making the appropriate arrangements"? This is not a joke but a bona fide enquiry. –Kotivalo (talk) 07:42, 6 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It is my understanding that under certain circumstances copyrighted images may be uploaded to Wikipedia. (I say nothing about Wikimedia - you are the expert apparently.) Do you really not know that? or is this still a joke? Eddaido (talk) 12:09, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for this but I'm more lost. The background is that officially no one knows who designed the logo Woolmark. But this designer published something very like it i.e. the drawing reproduced here attributed to Tessuti and he/she (Tessuti) is untraceable - believed to be a well-known Italian designer (to whom it is often attributed but he never acknowledged his authorship) using for his own reasons a pseudonym. It is only the source of the Woolmark, not the Woolmark (which is a massaged version) but to most viewers it is immediately recognisable. All this is from memory but I believe it is marked the source of the woolmark and not the woolmark itself. (my memory is wrong on this point, it should be marked the inspiration but it seems I did not do so). It belongs to nobody. What is wrong with displaying it? I don't understand how it is done but I believe there are circumstances where the real woolmark might be displayed but I expect I am wrong about that. Kotivalo says its nothing like the Woolmark then says its an infringement, how can that be?
Ha. I have just found that Wikipedia does have the real thing available so I will now put it in the place of the Tessuti crop which is cropped from elsewhere. If Tessuti crop goes then its source (in Commons) should go too. On my way to switch images, Eddaido (talk) 12:52, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for this but I'm more and more lost. In various sources, the original design is attributed to Italian designer Francesco Saroglia, 1964. –Kotivalo (talk) 21:20, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Does this not fit with the above? What does amuse me is that the Woolmark displayed by WP is a poor rendering with a major mistake perhaps to avoid troubles? Eddaido (talk) 22:26, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Kept: If it is a fake there is no copyright problem. As long as it is in use it is in scope. Natuur12 (talk) 19:34, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
