Derivative work of non-free book covers. 2603:301D:22B2:4000:7DCC:D821:BC76:D5C0 14:28, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Keep because recognizable covers are a small part of the overall image and thus there's no copyright issue. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 15:53, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Small part? The books are the main focus, you even say it in the file name. This is not a de minimis situation, as you failed to explain how. 2603:301D:22B2:4000:D9C8:C3EB:22F6:9328 16:44, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Keep. This is an interesting case, and the nominator's reasoning did cross my mind when I noticed this image on Barkeep49's enwiki user page for the first time. Although it may be borderline, I do think COM:DM applies. The image is a general depiction of a "table of books"; it doesn't focus on any one particular book, making this case indistinguishable from some of the other borderline de minimis keeps out there, e.g. Commons:Deletion requests/Image:Banners CIMG0256.jpg and Commons:Deletion requests/File:Museu Valencia de la Il·lustració i la Modernitat, interior.JPG (both of which are mentioned directly at COM:DM#Guidelines).
