The reactions shown in this image don't make any sense. Presumably it's trying to show a conjugate addition reaction (something like the bottom reaction in File:Gilman vs Grignard.jpg), but if so the starting material shouldn't have the R group and the two products shouldn't have the carbon-carbon double bonds.
