File was copied from en.wikipedia in 1 December 2006. I am not the original uploader so I have no idea if the claim is valid. I would argue that it falls under PD-Inellgiable as it is simple shapes. -- とある白い猫 ちぃ? 11:41, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
The reason for PD as given by the original uploader was: "Manufactur of pins (Hollywood Pins) is now out of business." But that is nonsense. The object is not very complicated, but I assume that the Copyright Office would be willing to register such a thing. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 11:54, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I do not believe the copyright office would register simple shapes as copyrighted. The rationale on the page is not mine so I have no reason to defend it. This could be converted into an SVG as to be honest I do not like it's low quality. -- とある白い猫 ちぃ? 12:16, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
This could be argued to be an E rune (ᛞ) in an unusual font. I'd say that it is ineligible for copyright (typefaces are not eligible for copyright in the United States), so the only thing which matters is the photographer's copyright. The photographer released the photo to the public domain, so I don't see any reason not to  Keep this. --Stefan4 (talk) 23:02, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That is for graphic works. Executed in metal, characters can be copyrighted. Or was Robert Indiana wrong in putting a copyright mark on LOVE? /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 23:25, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
