Benegal Rama Rau (1889-1969) was Governor of Reserve Bank of India. The image comes from the source http://www.rbi.org.in/History/Mis_Governors.html. Not sure if the image is in public domain. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 16:32, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
- Double standards on copyright on Wikimedia Commons? Exactly similar file form a similar source namely: File:SirOsborneSmith.jpg exists on the wikimedia commons. It did not receive any delete requests. I uploaded File:Sir Benegal Rama Rau.jpg with this file as a reference. i.e. I thought if File:SirOsborneSmith.jpg was not flagged by the Commons community, it must stand tall on the copyright front? - Smith was RBI governor till 1937 and hence the image is pre-1937 and thus in public domain now. However, Rau was governor till 1957. We have no proof if the image is older than that and of when. You can prove here how it is in public domain and thus get it kept. Also note that one wrong doesn't make other wrongs right. You are free to point out other such instances to help us all clean it.
