Potential copyright violation - can anyone explain why this image is public domain in the United States? ShyAlpaca482 (talk) 00:51, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Frypie Please note that the PD-US-no notice tag does not apply here, because the file was first published outside the United States. The PD-US-no notice tag only applies to works first published in the United States. There is a common misconception that the rule of the shorter term applies in the United States; it used to apply, but it does not anymore. You may be thinking of the tag PD-URAA (which would be a better fit for this work since it covers works published outside of the United States), but that only applies if the work was in the public domain in 1996, which does not apply to this work as it was still copyrighted on that date. Let me know if you have any questions. I have also posted this message on the talk page for your convenience, but it would be better to discuss here as this pertains to the deletion reqeust. --ShyAlpaca482 (talk) 00:15, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Comment This media can be undeleted in 2034, as that is when it will enter the public domain in the United States. --ShyAlpaca482 (talk) 00:51, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Kept: Pure URAA deletions are not done anymore. --Reinhard Kraasch (talk) 17:04, 16 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
