1940 painting by a Colombian artist who died in 1953. Won't be public domain in Colombia until 2034 and not in the US until 2036. Abzeronow (talk) 18:42, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
- This painting is very famous in Colombia to illustrate what happened the day of the Declaration of Independence. I now understand, from what you said, that it is not yet in the public domain. If the painting is currently part of the collection of the Independence Museum in Bogotá, Colombia, could there be a way to keep it in Wikimedia Commons if the museum grants permission? - Only the copyright holder could grant a valid permission. If the museum inherited the copyright from the artist, then they could, otherwise it would have to be the artist's estate. Abzeronow (talk) 15:50, 1 September 2023 (UTC)
