Popeye first appeared in Thimble theatre, January 17, 1929. According to http://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/cce/cache/Art-1956JanJun.pdf (the copyright renewals), exactly that strip was renewed, R164887, and thus Popeye is copyright until 2025. Prosfilaes (talk) 02:23, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- Added rest of pictures of Popeye in the category. Olive Oyl is out of copyright, though later pictures of her may be derivative of older pictures that are in copyright. I make no statement one way or the other about the rest of the characters.--Prosfilaes (talk) 02:38, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
