The image is claimed to be in the public domain because the video is located on Youtube. Nothing in the video description states the film is in the public domain, nothing comes up in a Google search and the film is not located on archive.org. Aspects (talk) 04:41, 29 October 2016 (UTC)
- That's not the claim. Again, this is part of a "crusade" by a solitary editor. The film is listed as PD because the copyright status of the RKO catalog is involved. The film, Passport to Destiny, is part of a large number of RKO features that were not renewed in terms of their copyright. I looked this up in sources on RKO films. - Actually that is the claim, because you stated that the source was the Youtube clip (and now the DVD), which would mean that the clip and the DVD would need to state that the film and image are in the public domain. If the film is in the public domain, then you need to provide evidence of this, which so far you have not.
- Bzuk is claiming that this public domain image is a fair use image on English Wikipedia, [1], at the FfD, [2]. Aspects (talk) 22:29, 29 October 2016 (UTC)
- Fims shown on television do not come with disclaimers that they are in public domain. Turner Classic Movies acquired a variety of RKO films and released them in broadcast versions with no copyright symbols. RKO films shown on Canadian TV—and, consequently, video rights in the bulk of the RKO film library were sold at auction in 1971 after the holders, TransBeacon (a corporate descendant of C&C Television), went bankrupt. The films then had no copyright renewal, including obscure titles such as Passport to Destiny. Bzuk (talk) 00:15, 30 October 2016 (UTC)

Deleted: Passport to Destiny's copyright was renewed in May71; R506033. User:Bzuk, your unnamed "sources on RKO films" are wrong. Do not make this kind of claim again unless you have, yourself, done the appropriate search of the copyright records. It's not hard, but it can be tedious. . Jim . . . .
