- Comment Sigh. I picked this photo up as one of several from the U.S. District Court for the District of Eastern Louisiana website. No indication at all at that website that it was not a government picture. I will, of course, not contest this, as clearly it did originate from a private source. - Aslo http://www.laed.uscourts.gov/200th/judges/brown.php says "© United States District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana" so perhaps the copyright was ultimately transfered to them ? Anyway that does not make the work a federal employee's work. And if they meant that the picture is in the public domain, they would not add that "©" symbol, I guess. If you have time to do that, it might be worth asking them by E-mail, and whether they agree to release the picture into the public domain or as a creative commons licensed picture. And if they are mistaken, they would probably be glad to know about it and correct their page to "© Mike Posey" or whatever. Teofilo (talk) 18:20, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
