Hi. We know you think so. Although simple shapes are not eligible for copyright protection, that does not mean a collection of them also has the same status. In other words, one can take some simple shapes and combine them into a work that is very well copyright protected. For example, (I know everyone has probably seen this example and even probably used it but here it is) these no solicitors signs are copyright protected, although their individual components are in public domain.
To put it practically, I know we have circles, triangles, rectangles and arcs here, but what we see here is clearly a spreadsheet inside a notebook, a relational database and a notebook with tabs. They are not simple shapes, although they can be broken down into them.
