- I am not sure if this is the right place to respond. I own this artwork. It is a commissioned portrait made by Warhol for Mr. Accame and Warhol transferred the artwork and the copyright to Mr Accame. Then I bought it. Topjur01 (talk) 06:51, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- User Topjur01's response to a deletion nomination for this same image on 5 Nov 2017 was different than what they say here. At that time, when an editor explained that, as with the purchase of a book, their ownership of the painting does not imply ownership of its copyright, Topjur01 replied:
- Thanks for explaining. I understand. You are right. It should be on Wikipedia under the fair use.
- It can be confirmed by email with Artists Rights Society, the administrator of Warhol’s copyrights, if the artist's estate still owns copyright in this painting. Glancing through copyright notices in a few Warhol catalogues on my shelves, including one of portraits, I believe it would have been unusual for Warhol to have given or sold copyright in an artwork he created. - Thank you for reminding me about the 2017 discussion. I somehow forgot about it. I agree with the deletion. Today I uploaded the file under the fair use. Please delete this commons entry.
