This probably doesn't meet the threshold of originality. As it's just the sun/basic circles. --Adamant1 (talk) 06:21, 11 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, I would disagree. It's a striking logo. I think it does meet the threshold of originality. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:26, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's a chopped up sun. There's nothing original about that. Off the top of my head I can think of a ton similar logos and images from the mid 80's and early 90's. It was a pretty common image motif during that time. For instance, do a Google image search for "80s sun logos." There's hundreds of examples that this one clearly copied. The only way to prove originality is by providing evidence that they were the first ones that created the image. Which I'm about 100% sure has zero chance of happening. Especially since there were extremely similar images going back to the 70s and 60s, long before this logo was even created. --Adamant1 (talk) 22:38, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If you can show this logo is unoriginal, either the logo is itself in violation of copyright or it's indeed deemed to be below the threshold of originality under relevant law. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 23:48, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
How would the logo be in violation of copyright if it's generic and unoriginal? I don't think you understand how the threshold of originality laws work. --Adamant1 (talk) 02:49, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No, the obvious point is that if it's stolen and above the threshold of originality, it violates the copyright of a preexisting logo, though they may not have sued to test that out. It's not clear to me that this is below the threshold of originality. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 03:24, 6 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
99% of the content on here has never been tested in court to see if it actually meets the threshold of originality. That's not really the point though. Us making our best guess that it does or doesn't based on the information we have access to, in this case that there's thousands of extremely similar logos, is. --Adamant1 (talk) 07:47, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Owned by Grupo Televisa. ItsJustdancefan (talk) 01:07, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That doesn't mean anything. We are allowed to upload logos that come from companies. The question is if they can be used as part of fair use or not meeting the threshold of originality. Neither of those have to do with who supposedly "owns" the logo though. --Adamant1 (talk) 03:10, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Keep The alleged copyright infringement and the deletion request is complete nonsense
  • First of all, this simple logo is not a copyrightable work anyway, because it does not have the required threshold of originality. There are tens of thousands of them at Commons (e.g. over 77,000 here or over 45,000 here) that only require the license building block [[Template:PD-logo|{{PD-logo}}].
    • So it doesn't really matter who created this work, because there is no copyright infringement here and so there is no reason to delete the file.
    • There were only errors in the description, but even these are no reason to delete the file.
  • Second, it was not the user @Lucho249: , but the bot @BotMultichillT: that entered the wrong claims in the description. This bot error can also not be a reason for deleting the file.
  • The false claims in the description and about the license have already been corrected in the meantime. Thus, the alleged copyright infringement or the deletion request is just warm air and nonsensical.

Deleted: per nomination and remarks of several persons. Imho the combination of ellips and circle with striking lines is an original creation and per m.nelson above COM:TOO Mexico. --Ellywa (talk) 00:45, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
