Delete Copyright status of this Sony BMG publicity photo has not been confirmed. Several people listed as the Sony BMG Sweden contact on the MyNewsDesk pages have been sent emails requesting confirmation of the copyright status of the Sony images on MyNewsDesk but they have failed to respond one way or the other. See COM:VPC#MyNewsDesk images. Without an OTRS confirmation this must go. Ww2censor (talk) 16:14, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Keep - Per arguments for similar case here. Permission is given by Sony Music, who manages the account at mynewsdesk.com. --Bensin (talk) 12:48, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Comment The photo was taken by Johannes Helje, but it appears that the licence was granted by Sony Music. Under Swedish copyright law, the copyright holder is always the photographer. Unlike e.g. United States copyright law, there don't seem to be any provisions under which the copyright may belong to the employer. It is not clear whether Johannes Helje has given any permission to Sony Music to make the image available under a Creative Commons licence.
See for example the website "Nostalgihus". This web site contains two images, [1] and [2]. The company behind the Nostalgihus website had hired the photographer to take these two photos for the company. However, it was found that the photographer remained the copyright holder and that permission only existed for a different website operated by the same company. Thus, the company was fined for violating the photographer's copyright when the images were used on the website. See [3] for details.
I am not sure if it would be safe to keep Swedish images if the one granting the licence is someone other than the one who created the image. --Stefan4 (talk) 13:57, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
But for a company whose entire business model is based on intellectual property to not know how to handle licenses..? --Bensin (talk) 14:15, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, someone at Sony should know about copyrights, but does every office clerk know about copyrights? --Stefan4 (talk) 15:21, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And Sony Sweden has not yet confirmed that the licence for their images on MyNewsDesk is proper or correct, so until then we cannot keep it. Ww2censor (talk) 17:13, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
