Listed author published books in the 1970s and 1980s, so his works are probably still copyrighted in Ukraine per the 70 year rule. Buidhe (talk) 05:08, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose. Firstly, there is no just one author of the book, cited by you but two: Vasily Sergeevich Ryabov (1918–2014) and Vasily Ivanovich Chuikov (1900–82). Secondly, Ryabov was a politruk and redactor, Chuikov was renowned military commander (general) – certainly, neither of them isn't the author of this photography. They were just editors of the book from which this anonymous war photo has been copied. --Iaroslavvs (talk) 18:29, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Iaroslavvs: What book was it published in? For an anonymous photograph, we need publication before 1946 for it to be in public domain. (See {{PD-Czechoslovakia-anon}}; Ukraine also had a fifty-year term for anonymous photographs at the time of URAA in 1996). Buidhe (talk) 03:19, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You yourself listed a link to the WorldCat and don't know in what book it was published?! :o ;) Interestingly enough that you try to play a role of zealous watchman in area of which you obviously know nothing. Those photos, connected with 1st Czechoslovak Army Corps in the USSR, were of course published much earlier than during '60s–'80s as you claim – it's a matter of common sense to realize that mentions (i.e. films and books, incl. photos) about the pride of Czech-Slovak foreign resistance movement could not be silenced for era of 20–40 years after the war. On the contrary. First informations about the battle way of General Svoboda's Army were published right after the liberation of Czechoslovakia in 1945. I will find exact dates and name(s) of author(s) or try to ask for help the VHÚ Institute in the following days. --Iaroslavvs (talk) 11:31, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes, I provided a worldcat link to the stated author's works. The image description does not list a specific print publication and the link is dead. There needs to be evidence that this was published before 1946 to be in the public domain. Buidhe (talk) 02:46, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yesterday I wrote to the VHÚ Institute in Prague to ask them for help with finding of the author(s) of all four photos you have proposed for deletion. Give me few more days for definitive response, please. Thank you in advance. --Iaroslavvs (talk) 11:11, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
