No evidence is provided that the photographer is a United States federal employee. Teofilo (talk) 00:48, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
- Please see the PUI disscussion for this image at English Wikipedia. This was deemed OK there. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 00:56, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for the link, but whether the photographer was a member of the army was not discussed. Even if he was a member of the army we would need to know if he took the picture as part of his duty or if he took the picture as a hobby for his private enjoyment. There is a talk on the village pump on old family photos. I will add a link to this discussion. Teofilo (talk) 08:00, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
- Regardless of who took the photo, is it possible that the copyright is expired, depending on the date? Is it possible to tell from the photo, like symbols of rank, when the photo was taken?
Kept. There are two stars showing which implies that the image was taken between 1942 (when Doolittle was promoted to a 1-star general) and 1944 (when he was a 3 star). So without proof of both initial publication with registered copyright AND a renewal, this is most likely public domain. -- Avi (talk) 00:53, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
