The original artwork is not a photograph but a painting. Therefore the full copyright term of life of the author plus 70 years has to be applied. Steriadi died in 1956, so the painting is still copyrighted and non-free. De728631 (talk) 19:01, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The 1996 copyright extension in Romanian law prolongued the copyright term to 70 years pma. The previous period of 50 years for Steriadi's works would have expired on 31 December 1996, but the law was changed before that date. So his works are not free until 2026. Even so, his paintings became copyrighted retroactively in the United States because the were not yet out of copyright in 1996 (Commons:URAA-restored copyrights).
