Copyright violation; screenshot of a copyrighted movie (Varieté). Paulae (talk) 16:23, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
The page says: "This image (or other media file) is in the public domain because its copyright has expired. This applies to Australia, the European Union and those countries with a copyright term of life of the author plus 70 years." Since the picture was taken around 1925, more than 70 years have passed. Why do you think it is a copyright violation? RolfSander (talk) 18:01, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- The nomination could be more explicit. I'm guessing it's because if calculated from the director's death the copyright would expire in 2027 in the country of release? -- Asclepias (talk) 20:37, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- Conc. that and all other screenshot uploaded by the user: It's a screenshot of a German movie that is not pd yet. The director and/or the main actors and the main makers of the movie (camera guy etc.) were still alive 70 years ago. There are only very few German movies who are pd (mostly those made before 1900). The uploader argued, that the prod. company Ufa ist not existing anymore (which by the way is not right) and therefore those movies are pd. That is not how German law works. The template is not used correctly. Upload it on en.wp and put it under fair use. One cannot put those screenshots in the public domain though! --Paulae (talk) 08:38, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
