I just realized, that I uploaded the 1983 photo under the wrong username Chinnichap. I totally forgott that I have a second user account under my real name Helmut Sinor. I think, that this is the main problem with all the copyright questions. Is it a good idea to delete the photo and re-upload it under my real name account? Chinnichap (talk) 08:58, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Chinnichap:
  1. No need to delete and reupload.
  2. Do I understand correctly that this is a self-portrait?
    • If so, please, do log in under the Helmut Sinor account, say that explicitly in the description, and mark this work as clearly your own: change the authorship to be a link to that account (along the lines of the way I link mine at File:Museu Frederic Marès, Sala Femenina 01.jpg) and in the edit summary say "see discussion at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Helmut Sinor (1983).jpg" so it is clear what is going on. You might still have to go through COM:VRT to verify that you are who you say you are if someone has doubts, but that's a separate matter.
    • If not, who took the photo? They would presumably hold the copyright, and that would need to be sorted out.
  3. As I remarked to you elsewhere, unless you somehow represent Chinn & Chapman, that "Chinnichap" user name is probably a problem, because that is a trademarked name. You probably want to stop using that account, or actually go through the process to have its name changed.
  4. Why, in any case, do you have more than one account? Are they somehow used in different roles? I hope you have not dealt with both in a context where you effectively vote twice on something or look like two separate people in agreement, which would be a pretty severe rules violation. (I looked at the contributions of both accounts and see the struck-through matter has definitely not been an issue for these accounts.) - Jmabel ! talk 18:44, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Now I am logged in with my real name. Thank you for your instructions and tips. I will try to implement them without errors. Unfortunately, I'm in hospital next week and because I have to prepare for the hospital, I probably won't be able to do much today and tomorrow.
To answer pont 4: As far as I remember, I created the Chinnichap account first. But I could be wrong, as it must have been a long time ago. I just wanted to familiarize myself with the functions and possibilities without using my real name as my user name. I just wanted to remain anonymous. At the time, I had no idea what effects a simple user name could have. Call it naivety, cluelessness or ignorance.
I only realized that I had also created an account with my real name two days ago when I was looking through the Excel file in which I had saved all my login data from various sites. I had searched the Excel sheet for “Wikipedia” and suddenly there were two entries. I had simply forgotten the account with my real name, as I probably only used it once or twice at the very beginning.
I was only indirectly involved with the music publisher Chinnichap at the time through my work in the music industry. I was with Ariola and after various mergers of the major labels of the time from the mid-80s onwards, everything went under the name of Sony Music. But that's just additional background information. The name Chinnichap just seemed memorable to me.
However, the same e-mail address is stored for both accounts. And if I am not misinformed, the respective IP address is also saved each time content is edited. This should therefore always have been the same, although I was assigned a new IP address about two years ago due to server-side changes. Helmut Sinor (talk) 07:38, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Before I do something wrong and the story becomes even more complicated: Would the following edited entry be correct?
{{delete|reason=This file was initially tagged by [[User:Iwaqarhashmi|Iwaqarhashmi]] as '''no source''' (No source since). See https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Commons:Help_desk&oldid=880253680#Frustrating|subpage=File:Helmut Sinor (1983).jpg|year=2024|month=May|day=30}}

And in the summary field i would write "see discussion at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Helmut Sinor (1983).jpg".
The main structure of the entries was automatically generated by the Upload Wizard. In the preview when I move the cursor over the |author=Helmut Sinor it says "page does not exist". I didn't save the changes but canceled them to be on the safe side before I messed up even more than I already had. Furthermore, I would like to apologize profusely because I am obviously being terribly clumsy. Helmut Sinor (talk) 14:23, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's at least a step in the right direction. We don't have to solve everything at once. The issue here is just to work out a basis to keep the file; I can work with you on things like categorization after that. The "red" link for your user page is correct: you haven't built yourself a user page.
You still haven't answered one key question, though: did you take this picture yourself? If so, we are fine. If not, the copyright would belong to the photographer, and you'd need to track down that person (or their heir) and get a license from them; you can't grant a license to their work yourself. - Jmabel ! talk 17:49, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It sounds like this can probably be saved, and that it may be a while till Helmut can answer my question, since he needs to go into the hospital. Please do not close this before he has an opportunity to clarify who took the photo. - Jmabel ! talk 22:15, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning, Jmabel!
I would like to start by thanking you very much for your helpfulness and patience. The last day before my hospital stay has begun.
I changed the entries a few minutes ago. I have also added some categories. And “yes”, I took this photo of myself with my father's camera and its self-timer function. That's why I put “self-timer” in the categories. All the best from Vienna. Helmut Sinor (talk) 07:29, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've done some further cleanup, mainly categories. Since I've been heavily involved with this, I don't want to close it unilaterally as kept. @Iwaqarhashmi: are your concerns satisfied, or should we have another admin besides myself make the decision? - Jmabel ! talk 18:39, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Jmabel, thanks for reaching out. I've been closely following your progress, and I must say, the work you've done is fantastic!
I'm completely satisfied with it, feel free to close it out at your discretion. Waqar💬 18:54, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Kept by consensus including original nominator. - Jmabel ! talk 19:19, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
